Hello!
I’m Alexis, a Seattle-based writer. And I help make great products.
I’m interested in guiding people easefully toward solutions to their problems, with the same empathy and human-centric focus as I’ve had my whole career.
I started off writing to sell, aiming to make the online experience as visceral as a brick-and-mortar visit. As my interest in user experience (UX) increased, I noticed that many of the skills I used as a copywriter were transferable, some even in lock-step with the Design Thinking process.
Three things I do as a copywriter that transfer into UX:
-
Humans can tell when they’re being condescended to, especially in buying situations.
I’ve learned how Voice and Tone can make the difference between being approachable and being obtrusive, and how this hugely affects trust.
-
People are never wrong about what they experience or how. I advocate on behalf of their goals, needs, and pain points even when business goals run counter to that.
Business goals may take a back seat, but the vehicle is heading toward success when content is human-centered.
-
The overall goal is to make content accessible and easy to understand.
My approach to iteration is to keep elements as simple as possible, but not so simple that they lose meaning or importance.
